After six years of production, The Orkney Distillery is well known for the distillation of exceptional gin. However, gin was never the long-term aim and the pandemic delayed everything by two years. Single Malt Whisky production was always planned and indeed designed into the distillery building.
As such, we are very close to distilling our single malt scotch whisky and rum.
Spring has Sprung in Orkney
Like many places, Spring feels like a new beginning in Orkney, but there is something special about Spring in a northerly island of Scotland. We begin to get longer days, and there is a real sense of fresh energy across Orkney as spring arrives.
Spring is such an important time at the distillery, as we open again for visitors, and our gin botanicals are starting to grow!
Distillery Tours Open Again
The Orkney Distillery & Visitor Centre opened again for tours, drinks, coffees and gift shopping on the 18th of March 2024.
In our guided tour, you will:
- Get a guided tour through the Orkney Distillery
- Learn about the distilling process of our gin & whisky products
- Learn about the key botanicals we use in our gin range
- See production area up close
- Sample our gins whilst overlooking Kirkwall’s harbour
- Relax with a coffee or gin and purchase bottles to take away
